Club Officer Training
Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we
front up to find out the latest and brightest in leading our Clubs and
carrying out our Club Officer roles. A must for all Club Officers – new
and experienced, and indeed all Club members are most welcome! Meet members
from other Clubs and Areas, share your ideas with them.
For when and where, see the Div.News
page. Attend the session that suits you best. Come with your fellow
Club members.
Canberra City
– 25th Anniversary
Hearty congratulations to Canberra City Club
on chalking up 25 years as a very successful Club, in fact the second Club
established in Canberra. At the recent Birthday Annual General Meeting,
President Alan Roberts ATM-B blew out the candles on a scrumptious chocolate
cake. The feature of this meeting was the acting out of a mock courtroom
drama involving ACT Government and Union representatives (!)
'Monaro'
– That Word
Well, is it “mon-air-o” or is it “mon-ahr-o”?
Who knows. It is an old geographical name used for one part of southern
New South Wales. Specifically, the early explorers noted that the indigenous
people used the word ‘Monaroo’ to describe the large open, high tracts
of land near the Murrumbidgee River and the present day town of Cooma.
New Area Governors
– 2001/2002
Let’s give a big welcome to our new Area Governors
for Monaro Division –
Area 7 Cheryl White
ATM-B
Area 17 Judy Harrison ATM
Area 19 George Donnelly ATM-G AL
Area 26 Philip Veerman ATM
Area 27 Theresa Hackett CL
Area 43 Peter O’Donnell
See them on their page.
All our Area Governors bring tremendous enthusiasm
and energy to their important role. As many will know, Cheryl, George and
Philip are-continuing / have-been Area Governors and their experience and
skills are certainly a terrific plus for Monaro.
New Division Governor
– 2001/2002
At the District
70 Conference held in May at the atmospheric Bankstown
Sports Club,
David Grantham ATM-G
was elected as Monaro Division Governor.
David says –
“We’re
in for great year in Monaro Division. We have a strong Team and we can
get things done. Encouraging enthusiasm and commitment in a Team setting
is really the key to producing results.
The
Vision is for all of our Clubs and Areas working together. So, let’s open
up the lines of communication, and foster a spirit of cooperation right
throughout the Division.
The
special Goal is to rebuild our low-membership Clubs to at least charter
strength. To achieve this Goal the following are absolutely vital –
persistent publicity, and
fun-filled, enjoyable, educational meetings.
Our
District 70 motto for 2001/2002, shown below, I believe says it all!"
TOGETHER WE ALL ACHIEVE
Award for Cheryl
STOP PRESS: At
the District 70 Changeover Dinner on 30 June, Cheryl White received a special
Merit Award plaque for her distinguished leadership of Area 7 throughout
2000-01. Well done Cheryl, this places you fairly and squarely in the top
league of Area Governors. Monaro is very proud of you! |
