“I  joined toastmasters when I needed a confidence boost. 23years ago. I wanted to be able to say what I wanted in as few words as possible! Now I have a passion for speech-craft. Where sharing the experience of growth and personal development in six weeks or more; hooked me on learning and experiencing people’s growth in amazing ways.”

My favourite season is winter. I love the mysticism of mist in the mountains. The senses swirl with the foggy mist when world is small, only see a short distance; smell fresh crisp air and the sound of silence, except for the crunch of ice under your feet, gives one the feeling life is beautiful. Now ! Grab the experience and develop it to the best of your capabilities high-lite your life with toastmasters.

I am proud to belong to the wonderful organisation called Toastmasters International. After being a member for about three years, I unfortunately had to leave due to other competing commitments. After being away from Toastmasters for a while I soon realised that I was rapidly losing the valuable skills I had acquired during my membership. I guess it is like any other skill – “Practice makes it perfect” and also “You lose it if you don’t use it”.

Hence as soon as I finished my other commitments, which took me away from Toastmasters, I resumed my membership. I am back with the club I initially belonged to, which is the Holroyd Toastmasters Club. It is a great club with a lovely bunch of people. If you haven’t already paid us a visit, I encourage you to do so.

During my previous stint as a member at the Holroyd Club, I served on the executive as the Secretary, Vice President Education and the President.  Since being back, I have had a second go in the roles of the Secretary and President.

I am enjoying the journey as a Toastmaster more than ever. So much so that I recently joined another club, which is the Western Gourmet Toastmasters Club.

As the Area 4 Governor, I like to work with the club executive in the area to make our area a very successful one. In making our area an effective and successful one, I would like to encourage more interaction amongst the clubs in the area in order to establish a supportive and cooperative network.

I am looking forward to working with all the clubs in the area to achieve their goals.

Naturally, the aim for all the clubs in the area is to be distinguished.  What would be even better is to be ‘President’s Distinguished”. We will work on it.

“I joined toastmasters 24years ago. I have no memory of why, but I am glad I did. I enjoy the Toastmaster meeting forum for my speeches but mostly the experience of supporting other members” “My favourite season is any wet season. As a farmer my livelihood depends upon good season.

I joined toastmasters to improve my communication. I enjoy recognising the talent and growth of other people. I co-ordinate Youth Leadership every year. I enjoy motivating and presenting information with enthusiasm and giving support to other club members.

My favourite season is spring, always a new beginning ;people seem to be more lively and happier.

I have been a Toastmaster since October 2002, and enjoyed every moment! On my Toastmasters journey, I have accomplished my Advanced ToastMaster Bronze (ATM-B) award, and about to complete my Advanced Communicator Silver (AC-S). I'm also an "old" Competent Leader (CL). Some of the club leadership opportunities I have include; Secretary of CFTM in 2003/2004, President in 2004/2005 and the honour of being re-elected as President for 2005/2006. In 2006/2007 I took on the challenging task of Vice President of Education - and survived!

Toastmasters has definitely improved my public speaking skills; educated me on how to conduct meetings more effectively; and increased my leadership abilities. These have had an incredibly positive impact on my career and personal life! It has also been a great privilege to serve as a club officer in Cumberland Forest Toastmasters - knowing that I've made a difference to the club and the members around me.

My aim this year as Area 37 Governor is to provide (and instil) "Service with Passion" to all the clubs and members in our Area. As Walter Chrysler, the famous automobile maker once said, "The real secret of success is passion and enthusiasm"

Public speaking has always been one of my fears. I was even scared to stand up just to say my name. This fear of public speaking had prevented me from taking on roles or job promotion that required me to speak in a group of people. One day I was told by my friends to join toastmasters if I want to speak in public. It was a daunting experience the first time I visited a Toastmaster Club. Since the members were very friendly and have made me comfortable during the meetings, I decided to join. Four years later I am still with toastmasters.

I like autumn, I love watching leaves turn from green to shades of yellow and red. The temperature during autumn is pleasant; not too cold and not too warm.
